trainingCardiovascular TrainingCardiovascular (CV) or Aerobic training is about improving the ability of the body to transport and utilise oxygen efficiently and to best effect. Whilst we exist aerobically - even when sleeping - to maintain our physical well-being or to improve our physical performance we are required to challenge our CV system by working it a little bit harder on a regular basis. Simply, this involves improving the the amount of oxygen that the lungs can process and deliver to the blood in each breath, the ability of the heart muscle to pump this blood around the body and the efficiency with which the muscles are able to use this oxygen to create energy and movement. CV exercise can be any activity involving continuous, rhythmic movement that increases the heart and breathing rates. Typical CV or aerobic activities include:
The health benefits of partaking in regular, moderate forms of CV activity are enormous and can include:
The Department of Health guidelines state that, to achieve health benefits, adults should partake in 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity 5 times per week. Moderate activity can include brisk waking, swimming lengths, jogging, etc. Some of this activity can be included in your normal daily routine for example walking or cycling all or part-way to work. (More information available at The Health Development Agency). The American College of Sports Medicine state that cardiovascular fitness benefits are gained and maintained through exercising at higher intensities and often for longer durations (20 to 60+ minutes), 3 to 5 times per week. Whether for health or fitness a Personal Trainer can help you achieve your aims by delivering a program of exercise based around what you enjoy doing that remains progressive and interesting. e-mail enquiries@austinwarren.com for more information... | |||||
