Active Living

Active Living is a term used to describe a whole raft of possible changes in our behaviour that may contribute to a healthier and more active lifestyle.  Often it is geared at identifying opportunities during our 'normal' day were activity could be introduced.  As well as physical activity it may also include nutritional, postural and relaxation advice.

Some more obvious examples of Active Living are:

  • Using stairs rather than the lift,

  • Walking to work (or part way),

  • Playing with the children/grandchildren

  • Walking up escalators

  • Cycling to work/school/shops

With some creative thinking and a positive attitude Active Living can often contribute significantly to the health benefits obtainable from completing the recommended 30 minutes of moderate activity 5 days per week.

Where appropriate a Personal Trainer will often include Active Living advice in any program developed for a client.
